ELECTION INFORMATION FOR 2012     On November 14, 2011, the City Council voted to change the date for the City Council General Election to the November uniform election date beginning in 2012.  This will extend the terms of the current Mayor and City Council Members from May to November.  Senate Bill 100 was passed effective September 1, 2011 and county election officials are not required to contract to conduct elections in May even-numbered years for cities and school districts.  The decision to change to the uniform election date will allow the city to keep expenses down.  If the city were to keep the May election date in even numbered years,  the costs for the city to have the election would not be affordable.  Collin County Elections will run the city elections in November beginning in 2012.
