Curbside sanitation services are provided by Duncan Disposal under an agreement with the City of Josephine. Regular trash pickup is every Wednesday. This includes ordinary household wastes.
Curbside pickup is available for $15.70 a month. For more information on sanitation services contact the city at 972-843-8282.
The City of Josephine also sponsors citywide clean-up days for Josephine residents and water customers with trash service.
Effective 7/11/09 the dumpsters will re-open once a month. The dumpsters will be available on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9:00am - 3:00pm. There will be (2) 40 yard dumpsters and a permit will be mandatory. For more information, call City Hall.
Listed below is an outline of trash pickup requirements:
1. Pickup Day: Each Wednesday
2. Trash to be ready for pickup at road edge by 7:00 a.m. on each Wednesday
3. Trash to be in disposable plastic bags and tied
4. Weight limit per bag: 40 lbs
5. Normal bag limit is 6
6. Bags may be placed in trash cans or barrels if securely tied and easily removed
from container
7. No large containers with loose trash
8. Brush to be cut into 4 foot lengths and stacked in easily manageable bundles
9. Pickup may need to be done on a different day when a holiday is observed by
Duncan, but the city was assured that pickup would still be done each week
(July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day)
10. Items that will not be picked up include waste prohibited under federal/state
law: medical waste, liquid waste, auto tires, oil filters, lead acid batteries,
petroleum products and by-products, explosive materials or any other landfill
prohibited material
